So, why haven’t I posted in… 2 months? Aren’t I finishing stuff? Shouldn’t there be an earc of the first third of NML by now? (Yes, betas convinced me to break it into three volumes.) What about Rhodes to Hell?
Well, the projects are proceeding S-L-O-W-L-Y.
And I’ve been having word problems. Do I mean block? Oh, no. I have the stories in my head. A this point I know the ending of both Witch’s Daughter and Rhodes to Hell, tot he point I should be able to finish each of them in a week or less.
The problem is “making the words go” and chaining them logically to tell the story. Lately I’ve been having that problem even with blog posts. Which means they take very long.
The late Jerry Pournelle had this problem after a stroke, but I’ve been here before and suspected it wasn’t THAT dire. Or it was, if I couldn’t find a decent endo in our new location.
Apparently the Portuguese Crud TM after stealing three months of my life decided to wonk (totally a word) my thyroid on the way out.
Last time I had this issue it took over a decade to diagnose, and I had something approaching dementia by the end of it. It’s not that bad yet, it just slows me down a lot.
And fortunately new place has an amazing endo who did tests, looked at them and went “oh, yeah, you’re dangerously hypothyroidal.”
The bad news is that it’s more severe than before. The good news is that after some more tets to make sure we get exactly what I need, I will be given a prescription and get this fixed.
Oh, yeah, and why I haven’t done readings — besides the fact that when we had someone over to fix the floor from last year’s sewage flood (it’s been a year hasn’t it?) my husband decided it was a great idea to put all the empty computer and equipment boxes in the sound booth, because “you weren’s using it.” Yes, I WAS. — the thyroid issues cause my voice to drop A LOT and become …. well, it goes out at times.
So, hang tight for a week or two, and this should be updated weekly. Because I am not that regular at it, and will hopefully get heads down in novel, I’m going to bring my assistant onboard, and she’ll occasionally give you Sarah reports and post snippets if I’m late.
Anyway, yes, there’s been a major problem.
It’s now being dealt with.
Stand by, and it should be fixed.
Sarah, I can totally relate to the thyroid issue. I am glad you have found an endo who will listen, keep an open mind, and treat YOU, not simply insist on following outdated protocols for interpreting test results. (Don't AMHIK about those people.) May the new prescriptions resolve the issues quickly!
Take care of yourself!
